Product Overview

The HC-06 Bluetooth serial transceiver module is designed for reliable wireless communication between microcontrollers and Bluetooth-enabled devices. Based on the HC-06 core module, it provides a simple serial interface and operates in transparent transmission mode after pairing, eliminating the need for Bluetooth protocol knowledge.

Key Features

  • HC-06 core module with onboard interface pins: VCC, GND, TXD, RXD, and reserved LED status output pin

  • LED status indicator:

    • Blinking: Bluetooth not connected

    • Solid on: Bluetooth connected and serial port open

  • Input voltage range: 3.6–6V (recommended 3.3V backplane)

  • Current consumption:

    • ~30 mA when unpaired

    • ~10 mA after pairing

  • Maximum input voltage: 7V (do not exceed)

  • 3.3V logic level interface

  • Compatible with multiple microcontrollers including 51, AVR, PIC, ARM, MSP430, and others

  • Can be directly connected to 5V microcontrollers without MAX232

  • Effective communication distance of approximately 10 meters (longer distances possible with reduced connection quality)

  • Supports full-duplex serial communication after pairing

  • Communication format support: 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity (only this standard format is supported)

  • AT command configuration (baud rate, name, password, power-saving parameters) available before Bluetooth pairing

  • Automatically switches to transparent passthrough mode after successful connection

  • SMT-manufactured for consistent quality

  • Enclosed in transparent heat-shrink tubing for dust protection, improved appearance, and basic anti-static protection

Compatibility Notes

TXD / RXD Connection Guidelines

  • TXD (Transmit): Sends data

  • RXD (Receive): Receives data

  • For normal communication, TXD of one device must connect to RXD of the other device

  • For loopback testing, connect TXD directly to RXD on the same module to quickly verify send/receive functionality
